Former Critic Apologizes to PM Following SEA Games Hosting Success

PHNOM PENH: Tim Sochea, who goes by the name Reachbot Soryakay (Son of the Beast) on Facebook, released a video apologizing to Prime Minister Hun Sen and the Royal Government of Cambodia for his past mistakes.

The apology came after the social media influencer, who lives in the United States, saw the organization of the Cambodian SEA Games last month. He was able to see the development of Cambodia more clearly, which had been misrepresented by opposition propaganda.

He asked Prime Minister Hun Sen to pardon him and allow him to return to Cambodia to see the development of Cambodia firsthand. He said, "I apologize to Samdech Father (Hun Sen) for what I have done wrong in the past, and I ask Samdech Father to forgive me and allow me to return to Cambodia to see the development.”

Prime Minister Hun Sen responded on his Telegram Channel, calling Tim Sochea his son and welcoming him back to Cambodia, saying they could leave the past behind. He said, "Son, I welcome your return. Set the past aside. Please prepare yourself to return back to our country, which is also your land, my child. The motherland of Cambodia belongs to all Cambodians. ”

Tim Sochea is a former CNRP supporter and social media user who formerly criticized the government and insulted the Cambodian leadership. In the apology video, he said that his previous comments were due to his short-sightedness and lack of deep knowledge, saying he regretted the mistake.
